The Room of the Segnatura holds the School of Athens, so keep it in your plan if that painting is your main reason to visit.
Rooms and paintings
What are the Raphael Rooms?
The Raphael Rooms are on the second floor of the Pontifical Palace. Pope Julius II chose them as his apartment. Raphael and his workshop painted the rooms between 1508 and 1524.
The Room of the Segnatura holds the School of Athens. You can also see the Disputation over the Most Holy Sacrament here. Both belong to the room's painted walls.
There are four rooms in all: the Hall of Constantine, the Room of Heliodorus, the Room of the Segnatura and the Room of the Fire in the Borgo. Your Museums ticket covers them all.
You can take photos here for personal use without flash. Tripods and selfie sticks are banned throughout the Museums. Photography stops when you enter the Sistine Chapel, which has a different rule.
What to do: If the School of Athens is your main aim, allow time for the Room of the Segnatura. The other rooms suit a longer visit if you want more paintings by Raphael and his workshop.

Tours
Raphael Rooms guided tours
Each option below names the Raphael Rooms in its route or inclusions. The official €25 ticket already gives you access to the rooms. A tour adds a guide to explain the paintings.
The choices range from a group of up to 20 to a private guide. Private guiding does not give you the rooms to yourself.
What to do: If the Raphael Rooms are a priority, choose a tour that names them. The €25 official ticket suits you if you want to spend time at the paintings without following a group.
